    A quiet, cosy lodge in an established Nieu Bethesda garden, the Owlhouse Backpackers reflects one of its previous lives as the Buddist meditation centre. Take with a dip with the goldfish in the dam, hire bikes to explore Nieu Bethesda or hike in the surrounding Sneeuberg Mountains.
  • Koffylaagte Game Lodge
    Koffylaagte acquired its name from being a regular stop on the old wagon route inland from Port Elizabeth and UItenhage. The original farmstead, dating from the 1870's, is now the main accommodation on the Koffylaagte private reserve.

    Convenient for the heart of town but in a quiet area is the Angler and Antelope guest house. This is an attractive base for anglers who would like to take advantage of the great fishing opportunities to be found in the Somerset East area.   • The Old Parsonage Museum, Somerset East
    Shortly after the establishment of the town of Somerset, 1825, land on the slopes of the Boschberg Mountain was given to the Wesleyan missionaries for a chapel and graveyard.
  • Urquhart House Museum Graaff Reinet
    The large erf at the southern extremity of Market Square, on which Urquhart House stands today, was granted in freehold to Johan Hendrik Greyling on 1 January 1806, which places it amongst the earliest plots transferred into private ownership.
  • Old Residency Museum, Graaff-Reinet
    The former Residency, situated diagonally opposite Reinet House at the end of Parsonage Street, and forming a unique architectural complex with it, is a well-preserved example of the early 19th Century Cape Dutch H-shaped house.
  • Olive Schreiner House Museum, Cradock
    Olive Schreiner, the famous South African authoress, who amongst many other literary works, wrote "Story of an African Farm", lived in this house at 9 Cross Street in her youth, between 1867 – 1870.
