  • Karoo River Rafting and Cabins

    We are a family concern that was founded in the early 80’s mainly for local hunters. Situated in the mountain range above the Noorsveld, the flora mainly consists of Spekboom, Pruimboom, aloes, cycads and Witgat boom.

    Somerset House was built as a school in the Colonial style in 1905 in Paulet Street which was the first street to be built in Somerset East in South Africa's Eastern Cape. Situated in the quietest part of a quiet town and backing on to the Bosberg, the ambience of Somerset House is tranquil, scenic and restful.
  • Kuzuko Lodge
    Also known as the “Place of Glory”, Kuzuko Lodge is built high upon a hill in a private section of the northern part of the Greater Addo Elephant National Park. It is here where breathtaking views from your private veranda are complimented by luxurious chalets and warm, attentive service. Spectacular cosmic safaris, day and night game drives and time spent in our wellness centre are but a few of the ways in which you can truly experience this unique and glorious place. Guests are housed in 24 luxurious chalets, each with a private deck offering spectacular views of the malaria free Karoo bushveld of the big five park below. All chalets, three of which are wheelchair accessible, features an en-suite bathroom with bath and walk in shower, mini-bar, tea/coffee making facilities, colour television, direct dialling telephones, free wireless connectivity and data cable points. Children of all ages are welcome at the lodge and may accompany their parents on game drives.
  • Lowlands Country House & Manor
    Lowlands Estate is a beautiful sheep, cattle and pecan nut farm on the Fish River 30 minutes North of Cradock. A wide variety of activities for guests to enjoy include canoeing, river rafting, bird watching, mountain climbing or just relaxing in tranquil and comfortable surroundings while enjoying traditional Karoo hospitality. We are child friendly and children are welcome to explore and enjoy farm life.
  • Angler and Antelope
    Convenient for the heart of town but in a quiet area is the Angler and Antelope guest house. This is an attractive base for anglers who would like to take advantage of the great fishing opportunities to be found in the Somerset East area. Alan is a registered guide and has access to various private fishing locations.

  • Walter Battiss Art Museum, Somerset East
    In an official ceremony held in front of the white-gabled house in Paulet Street, Somerset East in 1981, Walter Whall Battiss bequeathed his collection of his own art works to "the people of Somerset East and South Africa."
  • Old Residency Museum, Graaff-Reinet
    The former Residency, situated diagonally opposite Reinet House at the end of Parsonage Street, and forming a unique architectural complex with it, is a well-preserved example of the early 19th Century Cape Dutch H-shaped house.
  • The Old Parsonage Museum, Somerset East
    Shortly after the establishment of the town of Somerset, 1825, land on the slopes of the Boschberg Mountain was given to the Wesleyan missionaries for a chapel and graveyard.
  • Olive Schreiner House Museum, Cradock
    Olive Schreiner, the famous South African authoress, who amongst many other literary works, wrote "Story of an African Farm", lived in this house at 9 Cross Street in her youth, between 1867 – 1870.
