Tuesday, 19th September 2017
The popular Angler & Antelope Guest House in Somerset East has once again been selected as a finalist in the Eastern Cape Lilizela Tourism Awards. The Lilizela Tourism Awards recognise and reward tourism players and businesses who work passionately and with pride to deliver a world class product and service and whose delivery grows South Africa's global destination competitiveness.
Old world charm meets modern comfort at this lovely 4-star guesthouse; a place to be comfortable and relax, taste homecooked Karoo meals in the converted church dining room and sample a selection of over 50 malt whiskeys. The Angler & Antelope Guest House is the perfect base from which to explore the surrounding areas, take in the sights and sounds of the Karoo, and a little break from city life.
Somerset East is a delightful small town in the Karoo Heartland, known as the "Heart of the Blue Crane Route" and popular with hikers, mountain bikers, birders, and especially, fly-fishermen. In contrast to other areas of the Karoo Heartland, Somerset East is located against a forrested, mountainous backdrop and within sight of 16 waterfalls. It is also known as the original home of fly-fishing in South Africa. Alan Hobson, of Angler & Antelope, is a passionate and knowledgeable fly-fishing guide offering guests exclusive access to more than 25km of Little Fish River. You can find out more about Wild Fly Fishing in the Karoo here.
Angler & Antelope will be at the Johannesburg Getaway Show showcasing both the Blue Crane Route and Wild Fly Fishing in the Karoo. Visit them at stand G20 at the Getaway Show from 23-25 September 2017.
