Ganora Guest Farm takes top honours at Lilizela Awards
Monday, 25th September 2017
Ganora Guest Farm, located just outside Nieu-Bethesda in the Karoo Heartland, has taken top honours in the Eastern Cape leg of the annual Lilizela Tourism Awards as the Top Three-star Country House in the Eastern Cape.
This is a wonderful accolade for Ganora, Nieu-Bethesda and the Karoo Heartland, as the Eastern Cape covers 168 000km² of South Africa, stretching from Tsitsikamma in the west to the Wild Coast in the East. Nieu-Bethesda is a charming village, made popular by the iconic Owl House and located just outside the fourth oldest town in South Africa, Graaff Reinet. The Lilizela Tourism Awards recognise and reward tourism players and businesses who work passionately and with pride to deliver a world class product and service, and whose delivery grows South Africa's global destination competitiveness.
For those looking for a peaceful break, to reconnect with nature and take a digital detox, the farm stays of the Karoo Heartland are the perfect choice and Ganora certainly fits the bill.
Set at the foothills of the Sneeuberge, Ganora offers accommodation in four quaint buildings, each part and parcel of the history of the farm. But the history of the area goes back much further...Ganora has a museum of pre-dinosaur fossils found on the farm of mammal-like reptiles that inhabited the area some 280 million years ago! If live animals are more your thing, visit with the orphaned lambs, calves and meercats that Hester and JP raise by hand. Other activities include hiking, birding, biking, guided medicinal plant and fossil walks and more.
Congratulations JP & Hester!
