Farm Stalls

The Karoo Heartland is dotted with farm stalls. These farm stalls, called a “padstal” in Afrikaans, are found along most of the Karoo country routes and in each town. These stalls offer a variety of locally produced goods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade jams, baked treats, biltong, preserves, crafts, and artisanal products. If the hunger pains are knawing, then you’re sure to find fresh roosterkoek, vetkoek, pies or hearty local meals. Plus one heck of a coffee.
