Breathe in pure Karoo air at Asemskep, in the heart of the Karoo. Asemskep is on a working farm 40 km outside of Middelburg (Eastern Cape) on the Richmond gravel road (R398). A picturesque gravel road runs from Asemskep to the famous Owl House in Nieu-Bethesda for about 50 km. 50 km further lies Graaff-Reinet, on the same route.

Asemskep is a farmhouse surrounded by nature. Have you ever been awoken by bleating sheep? Well then, you should visit Asemskep. It is the perfect place for someone who wants clean air, peace, and quiet. The starry night sky is something to behold. Views over the veld, mountains, lucerne fields, and sheep are something not to be missed. A wide variety of bird species flock to the dam behind the house.

Amazing sunsets and the calming nature, without any disturbances, no TV or cellphone reception, is something to look forward to. Mountain bikers and hikers can enjoy the trails. Depending on what time of year you visit us, you may experience sheep shearing and feeding a lamb or two.

Enjoy the fully furnished house with 4 bedrooms (one has an en-suite bathroom), a separate bathroom to share between the other 3 rooms. Lounge, sun room, kitchen and braai/BBQ area inside. We have a big lawn for children to play on. The lounge has a cosy wooden fireplace for those chilly Karoo evening.
