Martyrsford Methodist Church
The Martyrsford Methodist Church, built in 1861, is a historic, privately situated place of worship located on Martyrsford farm along the R337 in the Jansenville district. It is deeply tied to the Hobson family, 1820 Settlers who established the region’s famous Angora stud. The farm was originally founded in 1837 by brothers David and William Carey Hobson. The Hobsons were devout Methodists who emigrated from England to escape religious persecution. The church building itself features striking side and front elevations, often recognized for its rural, white-brick architectural style and adjacent bell tower.
